X-Achse, often stylized as xAchse, denotes the horizontal axis in a two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system. It represents the abscissa, or the independent variable, and runs left to right with the origin at the intersection with the vertical Y-Achse (y-axis). In most graphs the positive direction increases to the right.

In mathematics and data visualization, the x-axis provides the domain for plotting functions such as y = f(x). It is typically labeled with units and tick marks and can use linear, logarithmic, or other scales. The x-intercept is the point where the graph crosses the axis (y = 0).
