Võimendusastmete, often translated as amplification stages or gain stages, refers to the individual sections within an electronic circuit that are responsible for increasing the amplitude of a signal. These stages are fundamental to the operation of many electronic devices, including audio amplifiers, radio receivers, and signal processing systems. Each stage typically receives a signal from a preceding component or stage, modifies it by increasing its voltage, current, or power, and then passes the amplified signal to the next stage or the output.

The design of each võimendusaste is crucial for achieving the desired overall performance of the device. Factors such as gain (the factor by which the signal is amplified), bandwidth (the range of frequencies the stage can effectively amplify), linearity (how well the stage preserves the waveform of the input signal), and power consumption are all carefully considered. Different types of amplification circuits, such as common-emitter, common-collector, or common-base configurations in transistors, or various operational amplifier circuits, are chosen based on the specific requirements of the application. Multiple stages can be cascaded to achieve very high levels of amplification that might not be possible with a single stage. The interaction between these stages is also important, as the output impedance of one stage must be compatible with the input impedance of the next to ensure efficient signal transfer.
