Världsdelar, often translated as continents, are the Earth's largest landmasses. The exact number and definition of continents can vary depending on the model used, with common systems recognizing either six or seven continents. These divisions are primarily based on geographical and cultural distinctions rather than purely geological ones.

The most widely recognized model lists seven continents: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia. Asia is the largest continent by both land area and population. Africa is the second-largest and second-most populous. North America and South America are often considered separate continents, although sometimes they are grouped as the Americas. Antarctica is a vast, ice-covered continent at the South Pole, largely uninhabited. Europe, while geographically connected to Asia, is culturally and historically distinct. Australia, also known as Oceania in some models, is the smallest continent.

Another common model recognizes six continents by combining Europe and Asia into Eurasia, acknowledging their shared landmass. Some models also combine North and South America into a single continent. The definition of a continent is not strictly scientific, and the boundaries, particularly between Europe and Asia, are largely conventional.
