Värikasetti, often translated as ink cartridge or toner cartridge, is a replaceable component in printers that holds the ink or toner used to create printed documents. For inkjet printers, värikasetti contains liquid ink, typically in separate cartridges for different colors like black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. These cartridges have small nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper in a precise pattern. When the ink runs out, the värikasetti needs to be replaced.

In laser printers, the värikasetti is a toner cartridge. Toner is a fine powder composed of plastic particles, carbon, and coloring agents. The toner is electrostatically attracted to a charged drum, then transferred to the paper and fused onto it using heat and pressure. Like inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges are consumed and require periodic replacement.
