városon

városon is the locative/adessive form of the Hungarian noun város (city). It marks location on the surface of or at the edge of a city and is part of the Hungarian system of cases used to express spatial relations with a city as the base noun. The suffix -on, following vowel harmony rules, is added to város to produce városon.

In usage, városon is commonly combined with postpositions to express relations such as within or along the city, or to indicate movement through a city. Examples include városon belül (within the city), városon kívül (outside the city), and városon át or városon keresztül (through the city). A typical sentence is Az út a városon át vezet, meaning The road runs through the city.
