Vuosiluokkiin refers to the system of dividing students into grade levels based on their age and year of birth in Finnish educational institutions. This structure is a fundamental aspect of the Finnish school system, ensuring that students of similar developmental stages are grouped together for instruction. The term literally translates to "year classes" or "grade years."

In Finland, children typically begin their compulsory education in the year they turn seven. They then progress through the primary and lower secondary education levels, moving up one vuosiluokka each academic year. This progression is generally age-based, meaning most students in a particular vuosiluokka will be within a year of each other in age.
