Volumemaisia is a fictional taxon created for speculative biology and science fiction to illustrate how modular, volume-changing colonies might organize themselves in aquatic environments. In the imagined system, Volumemaisia comprises several species placed in its own family, Volumemysiaceae, within a proposed order Volumemiales. The name combines a reference to volume with a suffix used in many speculative taxa.

The organisms are described as gelatinous, semi-rigid colonies that can adjust their overall size by incorporating or releasing internal fluid and reorganizing internal chambers. Mature colonies take on spherical to polyhedral shapes, with a network of interconnected chambers lined by a flexible cytoplasm. Reproduction is proposed to occur through fragmentation of colonies into smaller modules called volumules and through release of motile spores-like units.

In the fictional ecology, volumemaisia are saprotrophic, inhabiting freshwater and brackish habitats such as ponds, marshes, and submerged wood. They contribute to decomposition and nutrient cycling, and their volume-changing behavior is proposed to respond to nutrient availability, oxygen levels, and crowding.
