Vnitrozemí is a geographic term used in Czech to describe inland areas that lie away from coastlines, whether within a country or on a larger regional scale. The word combines vnitro- meaning “inner” or “inland” with země meaning “land.” The concept is inherently relative, contrasting with coastal or maritime zones and reflecting patterns linked to distance from sea routes and ports.

In Europe and other temperate regions, vnitrozemí denotes interior parts of continents or countries. For a landlocked nation, most of the territory can be considered vnitrozemí, while in coastal countries only the interior districts fall into this category. The term is commonly used in geographic descriptions, regional planning, and discussions of accessibility and development.

Climatically, vnitrozemí areas often exhibit more continental conditions than coastal regions, with greater seasonal temperature variation and, in some places, distinctive precipitation patterns shaped by inland topography and distance from maritime moisture sources.
