Viðmiði refer to the Icelandic term for standards, benchmarks, or criteria used to evaluate quality, performance, or compliance in various contexts. The concept is central to ensuring consistency, reliability, and fairness in processes, products, or services. In Iceland, as in many other countries, standards are often developed and enforced by national or international bodies to establish guidelines for industries, education, and public services.

Standards can be voluntary or mandatory, depending on their purpose.
