virionens
Virionens are the complete infectious particles of a virus, the form that exists outside a host cell and that initiates infection when it encounters a susceptible cell. In English, the standard term is virions; virionens is a nonstandard or language-derived variant. A virion typically comprises genetic material, either DNA or RNA, enclosed within a protective protein coat called the capsid. Many virions also carry a lipid envelope derived from the host cell membrane, adorned with viral glycoproteins that mediate attachment to new host cells. Non-enveloped (naked) virions lack this lipid envelope and rely on the strength of the capsid for protection.
Genome and organization vary widely among viruses. Virion genomes can be single- or double-stranded, DNA or
