Vinárstvo is the Slovak term for winemaking. It encompasses the entire process of grape cultivation, harvesting, fermentation, and aging of wine. Slovakia has a long-standing tradition of winemaking, with vineyards historically concentrated in its southern regions, particularly in the Tokaj and Small Carpathian wine areas.

The Slovak climate and soil conditions are well-suited for growing various grape varietals, both indigenous and international. Popular white grape varieties include Grüne Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and the unique Furmint, which is a hallmark of the Tokaj region. Red grape varietals such as Frankovka modrá (Blaufränkisch), Svätovavrinecké (St. Laurent), and Alibernet are also cultivated.

Slovak winemaking has seen significant modernization in recent decades, with many wineries adopting advanced techniques while still respecting traditional methods. The country produces a range of wines, from crisp and fruity whites to full-bodied reds, as well as renowned dessert wines from the Tokaj region, known for their richness and complexity. Wine tourism is also growing, with visitors encouraged to explore vineyards and taste local wines. The Association of Slovak Wine Producers plays a role in promoting Slovak wines domestically and internationally.
