Technical characteristics vary by network, but most villamosok use electric traction motors and regenerative braking. Power is supplied from overhead lines at voltages typically in the range of 600 to 750 volts DC, with some networks using different systems. Modern fleets emphasize accessibility through low-floor designs, wide doors, and climate-controlled passenger space.
