Viisteeseen is a Finnish term used in technical contexts to describe the beveling of an edge or the beveled edge on a workpiece. In Finnish usage, viiste refers to an edge cut away at an angle relative to the adjacent faces, which helps remove sharp corners and prepares surfaces for joining, finishing, or assembly. The illative form viisteeseen appears in instructions indicating action toward a bevel.

The geometry is defined by the bevel angle and the amount of material removed, often specified as the angle between the bevel surface and the parent face, and the width of the bevel. A chamfer is commonly a short, straight edge at a specified angle (often 45 degrees), while a bevel may occur at other angles and may extend along a larger section of the edge.

Manufacturing methods include milling, grinding, filing, sawing with chamfering tools, and deburring operations. In metal fabrication, viisteet prepare edges for welding or to fit mating parts; in woodworking, they improve fit and reduce tear-out; in glass or plastic, bevels ease handling and reduce chipping.
