Vietille is a fictional city-state in the river valley of the Valorian Basin, commonly used in urban studies as a case study of mid-sized regional hubs. Although not real, Vietille is described as a diversified economy with a long tradition of municipal reform.

The name Vietille is of uncertain origin. Some scholars derive it from an old Vietil word meaning meeting or junction, with the -ille suffix common to Valorian towns, reflecting its imagined role as a crossroads for trade and ideas.

Geographically, Vietille sits on the Yenra River and covers about 28 square kilometers. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. The population is around 42,000, with a mix of descendants from historic migrants and local communities.

Historically, Vietille began as a trading post in the 11th century and grew around river ferries and markets. It joined the Valorian Confederation in the 16th century and earned a reputation for crafts and liberal urban governance. In the modern era it has pursued infrastructure development and renewable energy.

Governance is led by a City Assembly with 15 seats and an elected Mayor. The economy centers on the river port, small-scale manufacturing, textiles, and food processing, complemented by services and tourism. Vietille maintains a bilingual policy, with Vietillish as the official language and a regional second language.
