Vieajai is a constructed language created for the fictional universe of The Selene Chronicles. It is described as the native tongue of the Viea, a coastal maritime people whose territory spans the archipelago of Lyrion. In the series, Vieajai is presented as a living language with several dialects and a rich oral tradition.

Origins and history: Vieajai emerged as a lingua franca among traders around the 10th century in-universe, developing from contact between neighboring speech communities. It later developed creole forms and, in modern storylines, has an official status in some city-states. The language is portrayed as closely tied to maritime culture, navigation lore, and communal memory.

Linguistic features: Vieajai is described as agglutinative and primarily SOV (subject–object–verb), with noun cases marked by suffixes and verb morphology for aspect, mood, and evidentiality. Word order is flexible due to case marking. Phonology includes five vowels and a consonant inventory that features stops, fricatives, nasals, liquids, and glides; phonotactics favor open syllables and consonant-vowel sequences. Writing systems in the fiction include a syllabary derived from a subset of the Latin script and, in some texts, a logographic subset for common terms; contemporary in-universe texts are often transliterated to Latin script using a standard orthography.

Cultural usage and variation: Standard Vieajai is used in official contexts within the fictional setting, while numerous regional dialects exist with differences in pronoun forms and verb endings. In the narrative, Vieajai is taught in schools, used in media, and documented in dictionaries, grammars, and learning resources produced by fans and in-universe publishers.
