Vibrokompaktioon is a ground improvement technique used to increase the density and stability of granular soils. It involves the use of a vibrating poker, known as a vibrator or poker vibrator, which is inserted into the soil. The vibrator generates high-frequency vibrations that fluidize the soil particles, allowing them to rearrange themselves into a more compact state.

The process typically begins with the sinking of the vibrator into the ground, often with the aid of water jets to reduce friction. As the vibrator is lowered, the soil around it becomes agitated and loses some of its internal friction. Once the desired depth is reached, the vibrator is slowly withdrawn, while the vibrations continue. This withdrawal allows the loosened soil particles to settle and consolidate into a denser formation.

Vibrokompaktioon is particularly effective for sandy and gravelly soils, where it can significantly improve bearing capacity, reduce settlement, and increase resistance to liquefaction during seismic events. It is commonly employed in the construction of foundations for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects, as well as in the stabilization of slopes and reclamation areas.
