vesisuihkun is a bioluminescent, filamentous organism described from the subterranean ecosystems of the fictional planet Valeron. The name derives from a Meran language term meaning night light and was adopted by researchers in the first field notes on the species. It is typically found in cave systems with persistent humidity and mineral-rich substrates.

Physical description: It forms slender, branching filaments that weave into pale mats. The cortex emits a blue-green glow in darkness, produced by a luciferin-like reaction. Reproduction occurs via spore-like structures at filament tips and by lateral budding, and individual networks can persist for long periods in stable cave environments.

Habitat and ecology: vesisuihkun is restricted to dark, damp microhabitats in caves or underground rivers on Valeron. It often grows on calcareous or siliceous substrates and harbors associated bacteria. The organism participates in cave nutrient cycles and serves as a sensitive indicator of moisture and disturbance in subterranean ecosystems.

Discovery and taxonomy: First documented during the Valeron Expedition (2134–2137) led by Dr. Lian Quro, vesisuihkun’s precise phylogenetic placement remains debated. Some researchers classify it as a fungus-like organism; others describe it as a distinct lineage of eukaryotic microorganisms.

Applications and conservation: The bioluminescent properties of vesisuihkun have attracted interest for potential lighting and biosensing applications, though no commercialization has occurred.
