A ventrículo, or ventricle, is a chamber within an organ, most commonly referring to those found in the heart or the brain. In the context of the heart, there are two ventricles, the right ventricle and the left ventricle. These are the main pumping chambers responsible for circulating blood throughout the body. The right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs, while the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. These chambers are separated by a muscular wall called the interventricular septum.

In the brain, ventricles are a series of interconnected cavities filled with cerebrospinal fluid. There are four principal ventricles: the two lateral ventricles, the third ventricle, and the fourth ventricle. These cavities play a crucial role in the production, circulation, and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid, which protects the brain and spinal cord and provides nutrients. The lateral ventricles are the largest, followed by the third ventricle, and then the fourth ventricle, which connects to the central canal of the spinal cord. Dysfunction of these brain ventricles can lead to various neurological conditions.
