Venitusmõõdik, also known as a strain gauge, is a sensor used to measure strain on an object. Strain is a measure of the deformation of a material in response to applied stress. A venitusmõõdik typically consists of a flexible backing material with a metallic foil pattern printed on it. When the object to which the venitusmõõdik is attached deforms, the foil pattern also deforms, changing its electrical resistance. This change in resistance is directly proportional to the strain experienced by the object.
