Venendo is a term used in Latin grammar to denote a verbal noun form associated with the verb venire, meaning “to come.” In classical Latin, venendo is part of the gerund, a non-finite verbal noun that expresses an action or its manner.

In Latin, the gerund is formed from the verb stem with the suffixes corresponding to case and number. For venire, the standard inflected forms of the gerund include venendi (genitive), venendo (dative or ablative), and venendum (accusative). There is no nominative/ vocative form for the gerund. The venire-derived gerund is used in constructions that express purpose, manner, or the abstract notion of “coming,” often in combination with prepositions or other verbs.

The gerund is distinct from the Latin participle, which functions as an adjective describing nouns, whereas the gerund functions as a verbal noun. In Italian, venendo means “coming” and serves as the present participle, used for progressive or descriptive purposes (for example, “sto venendo” meaning “I am coming”). In Spanish, the equivalent form is viniendo, the present participle of venir. These forms carry a similar meaning of ongoing action related to the verb stem.
