Vastaspunkti, also known as "counterpoints" in English, is a traditional Icelandic board game with roots dating back centuries. The game is played on a wooden board featuring a grid of 16 squares, arranged in a 4x4 pattern. It is often considered a strategic and tactical game, blending elements of both chance and skill.

The objective of vastaspunkti is to capture the opponent's pieces by surrounding them with one's own. Players take turns moving their pieces, which are typically small, round wooden disks or stones, across the board. Each player begins with eight pieces, placed on the four corners and the four central squares of their respective sides of the board.

Movement in vastaspunkti is limited; pieces can only move diagonally forward, one square at a time.
