Valuutandel refers to the trading of one currency for another. This activity takes place in the foreign exchange market, often abbreviated as Forex or FX. The primary purpose of currency trading is to facilitate international trade and investment. When a business in one country needs to pay for goods or services from another country, they must exchange their domestic currency for the foreign currency of the seller.

The Forex market is the largest and most liquid financial market in the world, with trillions of dollars traded daily. Participants in this market include banks, financial institutions, corporations, governments, and individual retail traders. Currency exchange rates fluctuate constantly based on a multitude of factors. The value of one currency relative to another is expressed as an exchange rate. For example, if the EUR/USD exchange rate is 1.10, it means one euro can be exchanged for 1.10 US dollars.
