This can include visiting popular tourist destinations within Hungary, such as Lake Balaton or historical cities, or venturing abroad. Schools observe extended breaks, known as nyári vakáció (summer vacation), which is the longest period of time off for students. Other shorter vakációkkal occur throughout the year, such as autumn and spring breaks, and the winter holiday period around Christmas and New Year's.
