Vaiheet jännitteet, often translated as phase voltages, refer to the voltage present between a single phase conductor and the neutral conductor in a polyphase electrical system. In a three-phase system, for example, there are three phase conductors and a neutral conductor. The vaiheet jännitteet are the voltages measured from each of these phase conductors to the neutral. These voltages are typically balanced in a well-functioning system, meaning they have the same magnitude and are 120 electrical degrees apart in a three-phase system.

The magnitude of vaiheet jännitteet is dependent on the system's design and the relationship between the phase voltage and the line voltage (the voltage between two phase conductors). In a wye (or star) connected system, the vaiheet jännitteet is equal to the line voltage divided by the square root of three. Conversely, in a delta connected system, there is no neutral conductor, and thus the concept of vaiheet jännitteet as defined by measurement to neutral is not directly applicable.
