Vahtpolüstürool is a rigid, closed-cell foam insulation material produced from expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads. These beads are expanded by steam and then molded into various shapes, most commonly boards or blocks. The manufacturing process involves heating polystyrene beads containing a blowing agent, which causes them to expand and fuse together. This results in a lightweight material with a closed-cell structure, trapping air within tiny pockets.

The primary use of vahtpolüstürool is as thermal insulation in construction. Its excellent insulating properties are due to the trapped air, which significantly reduces heat transfer. It is widely employed in building envelopes, including walls, roofs, and floors, to improve energy efficiency and reduce heating and cooling costs. Vahtpolüstürool is also resistant to moisture and does not readily support the growth of mold or mildew, contributing to a healthier indoor environment.

Beyond its insulating capabilities, vahtpolüstürool is relatively inexpensive and easy to handle and install. It can be cut and shaped to fit various applications. However, it is important to note that while it has good compressive strength for its weight, it can be susceptible to damage from solvents and prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
