In a typical laboratory setup, a Büchner funnel or a similar filtration apparatus is used in conjunction with a vacuum flask and a vacuum source. The solid-liquid mixture is poured into the funnel, which contains the filter paper. When vacuum is applied, the liquid is drawn through the paper into the flask, leaving the solid residue in the funnel. Industrial vacuum filters can be much larger and more complex, often employing rotating drums or belts to continuously remove filtered solids. This method is efficient for large-scale operations.
