Vaagnaõõnsusi refers to the pelvic cavity, a part of the abdominopelvic cavity located between the pelvic inlet and the pelvic diaphragm. This space contains various organs and structures crucial for the reproductive, urinary, and digestive systems. In females, the pelvic cavity houses the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, upper part of the vagina, and the bladder. In males, it contains the prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and the bladder. The rectum also occupies a posterior portion of the pelvic cavity in both sexes.

The pelvic cavity is enclosed by the pelvic bones, which provide structural support and protection. The anterior boundary is formed by the pubic symphysis, the posterior by the sacrum and coccyx, and the lateral walls by the ilium and ischium. The pelvic diaphragm, a muscular sheet, forms the inferior boundary, separating the pelvic cavity from the perineum.
