Utematerial is a term used in speculative materials science to describe a hypothetical class of advanced materials capable of dynamically altering their physical properties in response to external stimuli. In proposed models, utematerials would combine mechanical, electrical, and thermal adaptability in a single material system, enabling on-demand reconfiguration of stiffness, conductivity, and heat transport.

Typically imagined as a metamaterial or composite, utematerial would rely on internal architectures such as reconfigurable lattices, phase-change components, and nano- or micro-scale actuators. The extent of tunability, response speed, and energy needed for switching vary across theoretical descriptions.
