Uslubshunoslik, derived from the Uzbek words “uslub” (style) and “shunoslik” (study), refers to the academic discipline that examines the stylistic aspects of language, literature, and communication. The field investigates how linguistic forms—such as morphology, syntax, phonology, and semantics—interact with rhetorical devices, narrative techniques, and cultural conventions to produce meaning. Uslubshunoslik is broadly categorized into several subfields. Stylistic linguistics focuses on the organization of language within a text, studying metaphor, irony, and other figures of speech. Literary stylistics examines how these linguistic features contribute to genre, authorial voice, and reader reception. Pragmatic stylistics looks at how context and discourse affect stylistic choices, while sociolinguistic stylistics explores how social factors—such as identity, power relations, and community norms—influence stylistic variation.
The discipline utilizes both qualitative analysis and quantitative methods, including corpus linguistics, statistical modeling, and computational
