Uskonilmoitus is a concept in the context of Finnish legislation, specifically the Employment Contracts Act, and pension insurance law. It translates to "statement of religious beliefs" in English. Essentially, this refers to a declaration that an individual makes about their religious affiliation at the workplace.

Under the Employment Contracts Act, employees are entitled to a leave of absence for matters of conscience or for their religious sect. To be eligible for this leave, the employee must make a uskonilmoitus to their employer, stating their adherence to a specific religion or spiritual belief system.

Upon receipt of this declaration, the employer is required to take note of the employee's religious identity. The act neither stipulates the criteria for being recognized as a member of a religious group nor does it establish a particular threshold for granting the leave. Employers are given substantial discretion in interpreting uskonilmoitus according to local customs and laws.

The employment legislation leaves the interpretation of the matter to the employee's individual self-identification. In practice, employers may therefore request supporting documents, attend meetings with organizational representatives of the religion, or engage in other means of formalization of the declaration.
