Ureteroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions within the ureters and kidneys. During a ureteroscopy, a urologist inserts a thin, flexible or semi-rigid tube called a ureteroscope through the urethra, then the bladder, and finally into the ureter. The ureteroscope is equipped with a light and a camera, allowing the physician to visualize the interior of the urinary tract on a monitor.
