Távollátással, also known as hyperopia or farsightedness, is a refractive error of the eye where distant objects are seen clearly, but near objects appear blurry. This occurs because the eye's focal length is too long, or the eyeball is too short. Light entering the eye is focused behind the retina, rather than directly on it, resulting in a blurred image for close-up tasks.

The degree of blurriness depends on the severity of the hyperopia and the individual's age. Young individuals with mild hyperopia can often compensate for it by using their eye's natural focusing ability, called accommodation. However, as they age or if the hyperopia is significant, this compensatory mechanism becomes insufficient, leading to noticeable blurriness, eye strain, headaches, and fatigue, especially during activities like reading or computer work.

Treatment typically involves corrective lenses, such as eyeglasses or contact lenses, which are designed to adjust the focal point of light so it falls directly on the retina.
