tudnád
Tudnád is the second person singular conditional form of the Hungarian verb tud, meaning you would know. It is used to express hypothetical knowledge or, more commonly, to make polite requests, such as “Could you tell me…?” or “Would you know where…?”
Tudnád is formed by taking the stem tud (to know) and adding the conditional suffix -nád for
- Tudnád mondani, merre van a könyvtár? (Could you tell me where the library is?)
- Tudnád-e megmondani, hány óra van? (Would you be able to say what time it is?)
- Tudna segíteni nekem? (Could you help me?) — formal counterpart using tudna.
Tudnád belongs to a family of conditional forms built from tud: tudnám (I would know), tudnánk (we
