A tryckkokare, or pressure cooker, is a sealed pot with a lid that allows steam to build up inside. This trapped steam increases the internal pressure, which in turn raises the boiling point of water. Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius at standard atmospheric pressure, but inside a pressure cooker, the boiling point can reach up to 121 degrees Celsius. This higher temperature allows food to cook significantly faster than in conventional pots, often reducing cooking times by 50% or more.
