In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission enforces truth-in-advertising rules against unfair or deceptive acts or practices and requires substantiation for claims, with specific guidance on endorsements and disclosures. In the United Kingdom, the Advertising Standards Authority enforces the CAP Code. The European Union relies on directives such as the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, enforced by member state authorities.
