Tron is a science fiction franchise from Disney, beginning with the 1982 film Tron. Directed by Steven Lisberger, it follows computer programmer Kevin Flynn who is digitized into a mainframe and must ally with programs like Tron to resist the Master Control Program.

The film is noted for pioneering CGI and a distinctive look that blended backlit animation with live-action footage. Industrial Light & Magic created the digital sequences, including light cycles and identity discs, and the film helped popularize the concept of cyberspace in popular culture.

Although its initial release was modest at the box office, Tron became a cult classic and influenced later science fiction, video games, and CGI techniques.
