tridymiet

Tridymiet is not a term widely recognized in scientific literature. It appears to be a misspelling or variant of tridymite, a high-temperature polymorph of silica. Consequently, there is no separate, widely accepted definition for tridymiet.

Tridymite is a natural form of silicon dioxide (SiO2) that represents one of the silica polymorphs formed at elevated temperatures. It occurs in some volcanic rocks and glassy materials and can also be produced synthetically. In geology, its presence can reflect specific cooling histories and thermal conditions during rock formation. Tridymite is less common than quartz and is often found with other silica polymorphs such as cristobalite and quartz. It has at least two polymorphs, commonly referred to as alpha-tridymite and beta-tridymite, which are related to different temperature ranges.

Because tridymiet is not established as a standalone term, readers should treat it as a likely misspelling of tridymite. In most sources, if encountered, it should be corrected to tridymite.
