Trapani is a city and comune in western Sicily, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Trapani and sits on the coast at the head of the Gulf of Trapani, opposite the hill town of Erice. The city has a Mediterranean climate and an economy traditionally based on fishing, salt production, and, increasingly, tourism. As of the early 2020s, it has around 70,000 inhabitants.
