Transplantácie are surgical procedures in which an organ, tissue, or part of an organ is removed from one part of the body and placed in a different location within the same body or in another body. This medical practice is used to treat a variety of conditions, including organ failure, cancer, and birth defects.

There are two main types of transplantations: autografts, where the tissue is moved from one location to another within the same individual, and allografts, where the tissue is transferred from one individual to another. Allografts can be further categorized into syngrafts, where the donor and recipient are genetically identical, and isografts, where the donor and recipient share the same genetic makeup but are not identical.

The most common types of organ transplantations include kidney, liver, heart, lung, and pancreas transplants. Tissue transplantations, on the other hand, can involve skin, bone, heart valves, and veins. Transplantations can also be performed on a fetal or neonatal level, such as in the case of fetal liver transplantations for certain metabolic disorders.

The success of transplantations depends on several factors, including the compatibility of the donor and recipient, the condition of the transplanted organ or tissue, and the recipient's overall health. Immunosuppressive medications are often administered to prevent the recipient's immune system from rejecting the transplanted tissue.

Transplantations carry risks, including infection, bleeding, and damage to surrounding tissues. Long-term complications can include rejection of the transplanted tissue, organ failure, and the need for lifelong immunosuppression. Despite these risks, transplantations have significantly improved the quality of life and lifespan for many patients.
