Transmitanssi is a Finnish term that translates to "transmittance" in English. It refers to the optical property of a material that describes how much light passes through it. Specifically, transmittance quantifies the ratio of the intensity of light that emerges from a material to the intensity of the light that enters it. A high transmittance value indicates that most of the incident light passes through the material, while a low value suggests that much of the light is absorbed or reflected.

Transmitanssi is typically expressed as a dimensionless value between 0 and 1, or as a percentage ranging from 0% to 100%. For example, a perfectly transparent material like clear glass would have a transmittance close to 1 (or 100%), meaning almost all light passes through.
