Tilgreinda is a Danish-Norwegian opera composed by Ludvig Norman. First performed in Denmark in 1863, it is based on a libretto by Emilie Winge that tells the story of a Greek heroine. The story revolves around Tilgreinda, a female warrior who is inspired by the Muses to seek immortality and beauty for her city. Along her path, she encounters the gods and mortals alike, all of whom are attempting to present their preferred solution to the challenges that she faces.
Throughout the opera, music showcases the various emotions of the characters, exploring a wide range of styles.
The composer himself regarded Tilgreinda as "his own most lucrative work", though commercial success did not
