In standard Lithuanian, the corresponding noun is tiekėjas, and tiekjus may appear as a variant form, regional spelling, or in historical texts. The concept overlaps with terms such as supplier, vendor, distributor, or trader in English.

Role and functions

A tiekjus participates in the sourcing process, assessing needs, identifying potential suppliers, negotiating terms, and entering into contracts. Once engaged, the tiekjus is responsible for delivering the agreed goods or services, managing shipments, and ensuring that specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements are met.
