A thiolactam is a heterocyclic organic compound containing a sulfur atom replacing the oxygen atom in a lactam. Lactams are cyclic amides, and therefore, thiolactams are cyclic thioamides. The general structure features a ring containing a nitrogen atom and a thiocarbonyl group (C=S) adjacent to it.

Thiolactams can be synthesized through various methods. One common approach involves the reaction of lactams with thionating reagents, such as phosphorus pentasulfide (P4S10) or Lawesson's reagent.
