Theropoderna is a term that has appeared in various online glossaries and speculative writings to denote either a hypothetical subgroup of theropod dinosaurs or a fictional epoch characterized by theropod predominance. It is not a term recognized by major paleontological authorities or included in formal taxonomic schemes. In its use as a taxonomy-inspired concept, theropoderna would imply a monophyletic grouping within Theropoda defined by diagnostic skeletal features; however, no consensus criteria have been proposed, and the term remains informal.

In other contexts, "theropoderna" is used as a shorthand for a speculative period in which theropods drive ecological dynamics, analogous to how some authors imagine the age of dinosaurs in narrative or educational materials. When used in this way, it is understood as a fiction or thought experiment rather than an actual geochronological designation.

Taxonomy and usage: Because Theropoda already stands as a well-established clade within Saurischia, any proposal to define a separate clade called "Theropoderna" would require rigorous phylogenetic justification and peer-reviewed publication. In contrast, geologic time scales employ officially ratified stages and periods, such as Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous, rather than era-names based on clade labels.
