Thermodetection is the process of sensing thermal radiation emitted by an object. All objects above absolute zero temperature emit infrared radiation, and thermodetection technologies are designed to capture and interpret this radiation. This allows for the detection of objects even in complete darkness, through smoke, or when they are otherwise visually obscured.

The core principle behind thermodetection relies on the fact that different objects have different temperatures and therefore emit radiation at varying intensities and wavelengths.
