Terugsleeven is a hamlet situated in the northern part of the Netherlands, within the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân in the province of Friesland. The settlement lies along the west bank of the Utbaskee, a small arm of the larger Vlie estuary, and is surrounded by agricultural fields and reserves of peatland flora. The altitude of the area is only a few meters above sea level, characteristic of the flat Dutch landscape.

The hamlet has a very small population, estimated at fewer than 50 residents as of the early 2020s. Historically, Terugsleeven developed as a farming community focused on dairy and grain production. The name itself is derived from the old Frisian words "terug" meaning "back" and "sleeven" implying "sleeve," a reference to the backward-oriented sails of the thatched roofs once common in the area. In modern times, the hamlet has become known for its cozy rural atmosphere, attracting visitors interested in the authentic Friesland countryside and traditional Dutch rural life.
