Tertbutyyli is a chemical group, often denoted as t-butyl or (CH3)3C-. It is a bulky alkyl group derived from isobutane by removing a hydrogen atom from the tertiary carbon. This structure, with a central carbon atom bonded to three methyl groups, gives tert-butyl its characteristic steric hindrance.
