tenglama

Tenglama is a mathematical term used in several Turkic-language contexts to denote an equation: a statement that asserts the equality of two expressions and that can be solved by finding values for the variables that make the equality true. A tenglama may involve numbers, variables, constants, and mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and exponentiation.

Etymology and usage of the term vary by language, but the concept is common across mathematical education in Turkic-speaking communities. In general, a tenglama expresses a balance between two sides and may describe a single-variable equation or a more complex relation involving several variables.
