Tempobearbetning, often translated as tempo manipulation or time stretching, is a technique used in audio editing and music production to alter the speed of a sound without affecting its pitch. Conversely, pitch shifting alters the frequency of a sound without changing its duration. These processes are distinct but can sometimes be combined.

The primary application of tempo manipulation is in music production. Producers use it to fit vocal performances to a desired tempo, align different musical elements, or create rhythmic effects. For example, a drum loop might be slowed down to match the tempo of a melody, or a vocal line could be slightly stretched to land perfectly on a beat.

Advanced algorithms are employed to achieve high-quality tempo manipulation.
