Telakuormaajat, also known as telaketju or telaketjuvaunut, are a traditional Finnish method of transporting logs over snow-covered terrain. The term "telakuormaajat" translates to "log haulers" in English. This practice was widely used in Finland, particularly in the northern regions, where the harsh winter conditions made other forms of transportation challenging.

The process involves loading logs onto a large sled, known as a telaketjuvaunu, which is then pulled by horses or reindeer. The sleds are designed to distribute the weight of the logs evenly, allowing them to glide smoothly over the snow. This method of transportation was crucial for the timber industry, as it enabled the movement of large quantities of logs from remote forest areas to sawmills and other processing facilities.

Telakuormaajat were typically used during the winter months when the ground was frozen and covered with a thick layer of snow. The snow provided a natural cushion that protected the forest floor from damage caused by the heavy loads. Additionally, the cold temperatures helped to preserve the logs, preventing them from drying out or rotting during transport.
